Investment Strategy
We focus exclusively on small and middle-market financial services opportunities, leveraging the extensive skills and experience of our team. We pursue investments throughout the financial services industry with a focus on:
- Banking - We seek franchises in attractive markets that have the potential to significantly increase earnings. These opportunities generally have assets of $100 million to $10 billion. Belvedere selectively invests in 'de novo' or start-up banks where the market opportunity is compelling and the management team is first-class.
- Related Financial Services - We also target small and middle-market financial services companies that have synergies to the community banking sector, such as wealth management, investment advisory, brokerage, bank infrastructure, back office technology, leasing, credit scoring, and insurance, that are providing products or services to banks or their customers.
We seek to work with highly motivated management teams in these industries that have the experience, depth and maturity to benefit from our value-added approach. We seek to structure our investments to create a win-win for the management team and our firm.
Investment Structure
We strongly believe in each of our investments and typically seek to be the largest investor. Our investments typically range from $5 million to $40 million, but in combination with our limited partners we have evaluated transactions as large as $1.2 billion.
Each investment is structured in conjunction with the management team to maximize shareholder value by supporting long-term growth and ensuring financial stability. Our investment can be used to replace existing ownership, optimize the capital structure or finance growth in the form of equity and mezzanine investment capital.
